There is also the Schober auto tuner AT-1. However it is a tuner based
off a strobe disc and a combination of 12AU7/12AX7 tubes and four NE-2
neon's. Page 149 of the Richard Dorf book "electronic musical
instruments". It would be similar to the Conn.

[neonixie-l] Nixie tube instrument tuner

I think this would be a fabulous application for Nixie tubes but there is very 
little out there. Not being an electrical engineer, designing one myself is not 
an option.  I did find this one below but no updates and the schematic may as 
well be gibberish to me. Does anyone know if there are any other designs?
