Compilation Problem with 5.3.1

What distro is this? What's the output of "perl -V"? I could move forward but still not able to complete it, My Make is now failing at usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lelf collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [snmpd] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/amit/netsnmp/net-snmp-5.3.1/agent' I have checked the FAQ and created a soft link to the given library but still it fails.
