Re: [NetBehaviour] Learn To Code
Hello all, I was cleaning out my inbox and came across this email from 8 years ago. I didn't reply at the time, but I signed up for the course, did it, and then started building websites (and art experiments) in my spare time. Eventually I became a full time front end engineer, moved to the other side of the world, and, though I'm no longer able to engage in art practice as much as I would like (and that's why I've been pretty quiet of late), it's still the best thing that ever happened to me :D So thanks Rob for sharing that link! And thanks everyone for being such a wonderful web community! I don't write much, but love reading the emails and seeing all your work <3 Isabel On Sat, 7 Jan 2012 at 01:37, Rob Myers wrote: > http://codeyear.com/ > > http://codeacademy.com/ > > Learn programming via email and/or in your web > browser.___ > NetBehaviour mailing list > netbehavi...@netbehaviour.org > http://www.netbehaviour.org/mailman/listinfo/netbehaviour -- http://isabelbrison.com http://tellthemachines.com ___ NetBehaviour mailing list NetBehaviour@lists.netbehaviour.org https://lists.netbehaviour.org/mailman/listinfo/netbehaviour
[NetBehaviour] 2002-2020Images from Zaurus 5600
Images from Zaurus 5600, 2002-2020 The Sharp Zaurus 5600 is a very small linux machine with a number of amazing apps, including Calculon, that can create mathematical images at least through 5 dimensions. Most of the files below are early work. The Zaurus had a strong community for years. I went online with WiFi at a linux gathering in downtown Manhattan; the 5600 was one of the stars of the show. The applications are very close to the terminal. There's no camera, no phone. It's massively outdated for current online requirements, but it has its own value. I've read books on it, worked with graphics and medical imagery, written with a keyboard connected through infrared. It slows me up like the abacus or sliderule; I have room for thought without neoliberalist advertising and fake news breathing down my neck. (Is that the right expression?) Now it serves as an archaeology among other things; there are talkers, for example on it. A strange and shimmering world when all things digital seemed possible, somehow cleansed. (WorldCam images are common now; I've made video from them. But this used an early search form that kept the sense of wonder going.) http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_16.50.07_Wed_Jun_02_2010.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_16.48.38_Wed_Jun_02_2010.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_15.15.54_Wed_Apr_15_2009.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_14.26.21_Thu_Mar_17_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_14.25.28_Thu_Mar_17_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_14.23.45_Thu_Mar_17_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_14.22.32_Thu_Mar_17_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_14.21.58_Thu_Mar_17_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_14.20.11_Thu_Mar_17_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_13.23.03_Wed_May_20_2009.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_13.21.21_Wed_May_20_2009.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_13.19.52_Wed_May_20_2009.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_12.16.26_Mon_Mar_07_2011.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_11.29.07_Sat_Jul_16_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_11.28.56_Sat_Jul_16_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_11.28.00_Sat_Jul_16_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_11.19.59_Sat_Jul_16_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_10.18.42_Sat_Jul_16_2016.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_05.42.27_Fri_Feb_07_2020.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_05.36.52_Fri_Feb_07_2020.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_05.34.39_Fri_Feb_07_2020.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/sc_05.34.11_Fri_Feb_07_2020.png http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/WorldCam-060606-102708_jpg.jpg http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/WorldCam-060620-022426_jpg.jpg http://www.alansondheim.org/zaurus/WorldCam-070412-221006_jpg.jpg ___ NetBehaviour mailing list NetBehaviour@lists.netbehaviour.org https://lists.netbehaviour.org/mailman/listinfo/netbehaviour
