Re: [NetBehaviour] Human body parts donation

2011-05-11 Thread James Wallbank
Hi Heath,

In the UK I understand that people do not own their own body parts, and
so may not be in a position to offer you parts for your project. Your
new body may have to come from citizens of more liberal regimes.

I had an acquaintance whose heavily tattooed lower leg had to be
amputated after an extended failure to recover from an accident. Before
the operation he requested the leg, so he could have it embalmed as a
curio. The surgeons refused, and he took legal advice. He was unable to
compel the hospital to yield it up, even to a qualified embalmer.

In our genetically modified future, of course, human(oid)s may not own
their bodies in even more pressing terms - their cellular structures may
be the property of the corporation that engineered their genome. They'll
be able to work off the debt incurred by being born in just a few
decades, at which point they'll be able to live the remainder of their
lives as free agents, able to do what they will with their remaining years.

All the best,

James

[NetBehaviour] Human body parts donation

2011-05-11 Thread info
I have been working on building new lawful identities (data bodies) for
some time now:

http: //status.irational.org/identity_for_sale/
http: //status.irational.org/

Recently, I have made a new identity, but am seeking a physical body to
bind to. I suspect this body will need to be made of parts.

Would you be interested in passing legal ownership
of one (or more) of your body parts to this new identity
for physical delivery after your death or even during your life ?

I can offer expenses, but not a fee.

Thank you for your consideration.
