If nobody else takes you up on the offer, perhaps you could give Git with

Actually, I didn't realize tomorrow is Good Friday, so a good chunk of
individuals in many parts of the world may be unavailable.

How about we do this via email?

Have you guys found any blockers? If not, are there any VCS issues you
think could be blockers?

Just let me know via email and I'll tally the votes.

Thanks,
David

[vcs] Tribe Meeting on March 30th (this Friday)

2018-03-27 Thread David Heffelfinger
Guys,

I totally dropped the ball on setting up a meeting on March 23rd, my
apologies.

We should meet on March 30 (this Friday)

To discuss actual quality status of your functionality area and decide
which 3 bugs can be marked with BLOCKER tag (if any) and which blocker bugs
can be waived for 9.0 (if any).

How would you guys like to meet, I'd prefer Google hangouts, if possible.

Also, what time is everyone available?

I can meet any time between 6:30 am - 10:00 am or 11:00 am - 9:00 pm
Eastern Daylight Savings Time (EDT)

Tried to continue testing Mercurial support, I see that my "play" icon
disappeared.

Clicking on the spec at
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/298/v/2 I
see a message stating " Closed for structure changes " near the top right
hand of the page. I suspect this is somehow related.

Anything going on with Synergy I should be aware of?

Re: [vcs] finish with GIT on JDK 8

2018-03-25 Thread David Heffelfinger
Vladimir,

Thanks so much for your help and enthusiasm. Either one of your suggestions
sounds good. Testing Git under both JDK 8 and 10 would provide greater
coverage.

I'm also testing Mercurial, and I'm on Linux, since you are on Windows,
your test would also provide greater test coverage.

I'll leave it up to you, go ahead and do whichever you prefer, Git under
Java 10, or Mercurial on Windows.

Thanks!

Current guidance is to cover as many cases as we realistically can. If
there are blockers preventing testing ssh and sftp I suppose we can just
skip them.

[vcs] I think I found an issue with Mercurial Support

Looks like I found an issue with Mercurial support, I seem unable to apply
a patch.

I added the issue to Jira, I'm also emailing the list for awareness, see

Re: NetCAT 9.0 Volunteer

2018-03-19 Thread David Heffelfinger
The reason I asked is because we have two volunteers for each of CVS, SVN
and Git, but only one (that would be me) for Mercurial.

If you're more comfortable with other VCS systems maybe you can coordinate
with the individuals already assigned to them? You can see their names
under "Versioning" at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/NetCAT+9.0+Test+Spec+Reviews#NetCAT9.0TestSpecReviews-Versioning

Good Morning Version Control Tribe (and others),

I trust all of you had some time to go through your respective test
specifications.

We are scheduled to start testing today. Those VCS systems where there is
more than one volunteer (CVS, SVN, and Git), please coordinate among
yourselves as to how you would like to divide the work.

Please log any issues you find to Jira:

Let the testing begin! 🙂

It is my understanding that yes, we should be testing against the beta
version in the link you provided.

If NetBeans asks for updates, I would install them.

I don't think you need nbjavadoc to test SVN, however doesn't hurt to have
it.

If you find any issues, I would include the SVN version you are using in
the Jira ticket you create.

Hope that helps,
David

Yes, please, read the spec and coordinate with Mark Stephens, as he will be
testing Git as well.

Thanks,

Re: NetCAT 9.0 Volunteer

2018-03-14 Thread David Heffelfinger
Vladimir,

I'm the tribe lead for the version control tribe.

Currently we need the most help with Git or Mercurial testing. Which one
would you prefer?

We are currently reviewing test specs at
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/tribe/32/view.

Testing is scheduled to start this coming Monday.

Re: [vcs] subversion

2018-03-11 Thread David Heffelfinger
Leo,

Thanks for reporting this. I'm not sure at this point what the proper
procedure for reporting issues is so that they don't fall through the
cracks (Jira tickets, etc).

Jiri or Hermien, could one of you please clarify?

Thanks,
David

I contacted all members of the version control tribe, we're trying to
figure out how to divide the work. I'll update the wiki once I have more
concrete information.
