crash upon deleting a text area

2010-02-01 Thread Jim Nagel
is this a known problem, or does it happen just to me?

i'm typing a message to a forum in one of those text-input boxes.
www.riscository.com/2010/logo-ideas-for-bristol-risc-os-user-group

in order to move some bits around more easily, i decided to copy what
i'd written and paste it into a text editor. luckily i did the paste
first, for as soon as i deleted the original, Netsurf crashed.

whereupon i recalled that this had happened to me in the past, but
don't think i reported it at the time.

will send bug report and logfile. using NS r9799 on RO 4.39.

inconsistency between Linux and RISC OS

2010-02-01 Thread rickman
On my website there is an inconsistency between RISC OS and Linux when
displaying an image via a css defined background-url.

On RISC OS NetSurf R8643
www.gaydon.org.uk displays a background image of wind turbines.
If you click on the first link: - contacts
The contacts page is displayed and the background image is also shown.

On Linux NetSurf (1.2) the background image is not displayed for the
contacts page.

They can't both be right - I believe the Linux behaviour is correct
but would welcome a another opinion.

Not with r9799 on RISC OS 5.16. No turbines on the contact page.

With best wishes,

Peter.

NetSurf 1.2 is absolutely ancient. Lots has changed since then.

Thanks Peter - I've just checked on 2.1 - it looks as if NetSurf broke
briefly between 2.1 and r8643 and was mended by r9799 again. This
would expain why it worked on the older 1.2 version on Linux.

NetSurf crashes as soon as it is run

2010-02-01 Thread Richard Mellish
The Help file says
In case of problems, please check for a newer release at
 http://www.netsurf-browser.org/ and, if problems persist,
 email
 the support mailing list at
 netsurf-us...@netsurf-browser.org.

I am doing that, rather than using the bug-tracking system, because I
tried the latter on a previous occasion and found it very hard to use.

I attach a log file.

NetSurf was working OK until a few days ago, when it took to crashing
when started. I am not aware of making any change to my system, which
is an Iyonix running RISC OS 5.11. (I am intending to install 5.16
soon but am deferring that until I have copied some applications and
data files to a new computer.)

At the time I thought the problem was with the particular website, but
I have now found that NetSurf crashes even when started by
double-clicking the application directory.

I have reinstalled the latest version. I have also moved
!Boot.Choices.WWW.NetSurf and allowed NetSurf to re-create that from
scratch.

None of that has made any difference.

Delete Wimp$ScrapDir.RUfl_cache. I strongly advise upgrading to 5.16
as, aside from the date fix, it also contains a bug fixed FontManager
that allows RUfl to scan fonts approximately 7 times faster.
