Dunno if the fault is Netsurf or the designer of the page.

Firefox doesn't seem to be doing a much better job. It doesn't look
like a NetSurf issue.

A look in the log showed it was trying top open res/cache/control
so I created an empty folder res/cache

Netsurf was then able to start.

I would have thought that any sensibly implemented system should
automatically create folders that do not exist, rather than die.

That's what happened on my Atari system so I'm surprised that it
wasn't the case for Peter.

I fixed mine in the choices file:

 sys_colour_Window:ff

That worked although I have no idea quite what the arcane 6 fs actually do.

It's a hexadecimal value meaning white (in this context).

I tried the Atari build and indeed it is much better now. It would be
fantastic if multi-line textareas could be improved in the same way.

Please try CI build #1009 or later. When editing multi-line textareas,
the redraw area has been reduced significantly in some common cases.

Yes, it's becoming quite useful. I'm typing this in Gmail and I don't
notice any flickering when typing or deleting characters in most
cases. Many thanks!
