I don't want a user experience - I just want stuff that works.

I'm not sure if this is related, but now go to:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/11/06/credit_card_sized_mobile_made_for_pensioners/

The picture is just a large pink square with a red border. You can
save the object as a jpeg which you can then view normally in
!DPlngScan etc. This is in #606 - #596 gave me a white square.

I'm not thinking of getting one nay time soon :)

The Reg has now changed the image. It's a different file that displays
properly, so it looks like the original one was broken.

Yes, we changed how we deal with images that we fail to decode. Now they
are indicated as you see in #606, and you can open a context menu over
them and save them to try with another app.

Previously they caused the rendering of the page to be aborted, causing
odd redraw glitches.

The chances are you'll see blank rectangles in the central bit. The
nav-bar down the left is probably OK. Now wipe another window over the
NetSurf window. As you move the other window aside content will be
revealed. However if you just put the window to the back it will leave
 white space where it was.

 #596 on RO6.16

Slight difference here, NetSurf #598 and RISC OS 5.19 on an ARMini. On
loading the central content appears briefly, and is then overwritten
by the blank rectangle. Putting the window to the back doesn't leave
the blank rectangle in place, though. The window swipe works just as
you say.

With best wishes,

Peter.

I'm using NetSurf r13401 and RO5.16 and I have no problems reading the
page. I cannot replicate your descroption.
