Art and Google Earth API question - follow-up
Dear All, December 3rd, a month ago, I posted a question about Art and Google Earth API, that was going to be terminated around december 12. In preparation we made a documentation of our website, based on screen grabs and personal comments of both Ivar and me. We listed some related projects partly based on kind suggestions via this list. Please feel free to suggest more. As the documentation and archiving of web-based works is an ongoing topic, I felt the list might be interested. The page with documentation can be found here: http://www.250miles.net/techno-mourning/ To our surprise, the website still functions in firefox so if you still want to experience the technology we mourn over in te documentation, it is still possible via this link: http://www.250miles.net/Map/ Looking forward hearing your reactions, best, Esther Polak # distributed via : no commercial use without permission #is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: http://mx.kein.org/mailman/listinfo/nettime-l # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nett...@kein.org # @nettime_bot tweets mail w/ sender unless #ANON is in Subject:

Re: Art and Google Earth API question [Re: nettime-l Digest, Vol 99, Issue 4]
Dear Esther, Thank you for sharing. This was imminent as they’ve incorporated many of the features (Google deemed valuable) into their regular maps API. Time to make screencasts I guess. You can still download the plugin here. Currently works on (at least) Firefox. Apparently you need to quit your browser before installing. http://www.google.com/intl/en/earth/explore/products/plugin.html Here is a work I made http://owenmundy.com/work/drone-tracker/drone_tracker_05/ I did this with Periscope Project in San Diego, using my Camp La Jolla Military Park data http://owenmundy.com/site/camp-la-jolla Best, Owen > On Dec 4, 2015, at 6:00 AM, nettime-l-requ...@mail.kein.org wrote: <...> > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of nettime-l digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Dear Group, On December 15 Google will terminate the Google Earth API. Is anybody aware of other networked art, besides of JODI's GEO GOO and our www.250miles.net/map that make use of this plugin and that we can only experience one more week?
