support for --tls-remote : gnome bz #455142
Hi, I just saw this old bug in the gnome bz, i would like to write a patch for it, is any one already working on it, or is it available to be worked on. NetworkManager not connects to my wireless network
I am using openSuSE 11.2 - 2.6.31.8-0.1 with KDE4(.3.1), i.e., NetworkManager client for KDE4 0.9.svn1043876-1.3.1 and NetworkManager 0.7.1_git20090811-4.2. I've succeeded twice to see/scan the wireless networks around: once while setting the router and another time after installing wicd. But I couldn't connect me to my local wireless network in none of these cases because KNetworkManager has not accepted my (otherwise correct) password. Since days I am trying to figure out what really fails... Best wishes, A. Vernes P.S. In the attachment one can find my log-files together with the output of ifconfig and lspci. output of ifconfig = eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:17:31:CB:99:39 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) Interrupt:17 eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:17:31:CB:87:52 UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) Interrupt:22 Base address:0x6000 eth2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:22:3F:15:1F:EA inet6 addr: fe80::222:3fff:fe15:1fea/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) Interrupt:16 Base address:0x8000 loLink encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:70 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:70 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:4708 (4.5 Kb) TX bytes:4708 (4.5 Kb) = lspci = 00:00.0 Memory controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 Memory Controller (rev a3) 00:01.0 ISA bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 ISA Bridge (rev a3) 00:01.1 SMBus: nVidia Corporation CK804 SMBus (rev a2) 00:02.0 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 USB Controller (rev a2) 00:02.1 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 USB Controller (rev a3) 00:04.0 Multimedia audio controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 AC'97 Audio Controller (rev a2) 00:06.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation CK804 IDE (rev f2) 00:07.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation CK804 Serial ATA Controller (rev f3) 00:08.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation CK804 Serial ATA Controller (rev f3) 00:09.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCI Bridge (rev a2) 00:0a.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 Ethernet Controller (rev a3) 00:0b.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCIE Bridge (rev a3) 00:0c.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCIE Bridge (rev a3) 00:0d.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCIE Bridge (rev a3) 00:0e.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCIE Bridge (rev a3) 00:18.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] HyperTransport Technology Configuration 00:18.1 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] Address Map 00:18.2 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] DRAM Controller 00:18.3 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] Miscellaneous Control 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G73 [GeForce 7600 GT] (rev a1) 05:06.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM43XG (rev 01) 05:0b.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB43AB22/A IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link) 05:0c.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 13) = /var/log/boot.msg (cut of dmesg) = [7.254347] wl :05:06.0: PCI INT A -> Link[APC1] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16 [7.506079] ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [APC3] enabled at IRQ 18 [7.506088] alloc irq_desc for 18 on node 0 [7.506091] alloc kstat_irqs on node 0 [7.506102] nvidia :01:00.0: PCI INT A -> Link[APC3] -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18 [7.506110] nvidia :01:00.0: setting latency timer to 64 [7.506714] NVRM: loading NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 190.53 Wed Dec 9 15:29:46 PST 2009 [7.612688] ppdev: user-space parallel port driver [7.638563] gameport: NS558 PnP Gameport is pnp00:0d/gameport0, io 0x201, speed 905kHz [7.666058] forcedeth :00:0a.0: ifname eth2, PHY OUI 0x5043 @ 9, addr 00:17:31:cb:87:52 [7.666063] forcedeth :00:0a.0: highdma csum gbit lnktim desc-v3 [8.043909] EDAC amd64_edac: Ver: 3.2.0 Dec 18 2009 [8.

Ok, that's probably because the driver doesn't correctly set up the sysfs device links for the relationship between the device and it's parents. That's a driver bug. If it did do this, NetworkManager would likely just see the device and handle it like you'd expect. Maybe we get Spot involved? OK, we could also ask Johannes (AFAIK he has written the original iw part), whether he could give his permissions to use the code in nm. (if there are legal issues need to ask spot first). ___ NetworkManager-list mailing list NetworkManager-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/networkmanager-list

I put a summary of what I think should be done here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=601372 Does the stuff in Comment #3 sound doable? You don't have to do everything at the start but we can do it incrementally. Like you don't need to populate the "user-id" and "user-name" fields yet, since we need to do a bit more internally to NM to store that information in the NMActRequest structure (by pulling the uid off the D-Bus request to start the connection). Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Dan ___ NetworkManager-list mailing list NetworkManager-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/networkmanager-list

Getting network manger to work with network bridge interfaces
Hi All, I am wondering if NM can work with a brige interface. I creates br0 for kvm bridging and would like NM to keep br0 active as it does with eth0, any idea if NM can do it?
