The DUID is supposed to be fixed for the life of the OS installation
once it is generated on the client. If that is not the case, then the
client is broken.

DHCPv6 DUID

2011-02-16 Thread Jay Cornwall

Hi,

Is it possible to configure a fixed (i.e. non-time-varying) DUID for
DHCPv6 requests in NetworkManager?

I prefer to statically assign IPs with fixed DNS entries, rather than
rely on autoconfiguration and DDNS. However, at the moment my Ubuntu
11.04 client changes a few bits of its DUID on each reconnection, making
this rather tricky.
