That's odd... what's your killswitch state, and were there any messages in the logs about killswitch stuff? Hm, I can't reproduce that anymore myself. So it's probably not worth for further investigation. I fixed a crasher bug I introduced with my 802.1x wired auth patch on 2008-02-05, that's probably what you were seeing. I'd actually like to take a look at the SSID - GConf hashing again because I've been getting some reports of crashing there, but I'd like to start a 0.6.6 RC phase by the middle of the month at least. I can confirm, that 0.6.6 (r3280) crashes more often. Especially when I enable/disable the network via nm-applet or during suspend/resume cycles. I believe I've fixed the SSID hashing issues in 3307. Can you test and if it crashes, grab some good backtraces with symbols? I'm running 3307 from NETWORKMANAGER_0_6_0_RELEASE and 521 from network-manager-applet-0-6 now. Re: New features in the 0.6 branch
Hi, Thanks a lot, I really needed wired authentication! I compiled and packaged the 0.6 branch for Ubuntu and it works really fine! Now I don't need a script and a manually edited configuration file anymore! I found no critical bug so far, but I'd like to submit a feature request: When I connected to the authenticated network for the first time I gave it a name (let's say network a). I noticed that the keyring manager (and seahorse as well) added the to its stored ones. Now, whenever I plug the cable to that network I see a new network a in the network list but when I click on it I'm asked for user and password again. Is there a way to let it store somewhere (just as it happens with wireless networks)? Thanks! I implemented wired 802.1x authentication and would appreciate bug reports of any issues people find with it. Also, there's a new wireless network editor so that you can change and remove wireless networks without using the gconf directly. It is supposed to work like wireless and get the secrets from keyring automatically, sounds like there's a bug somewhere. I'll look into it. This might have been a bit misleading. What I wanted to say is, that I'm using kernel 2.6.24 and ipw2100. The bug itself seems to happen for other drivers too. Cool, what about a new (stable) release of NetworkManager and nm-applet with this new features (especially since libnl 1.0 has been released which requires the updates from the svn stable branch)? network-manager-applet-0.6 doesn't compile against NetworkManager-0.6.5 though, so the build-requirements in configure.ac should be bumped.
