I think this behaviour causes this bug:

Same if I connect first to 3G and then wifi:

marius@marius-T1005:~$ route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse
Iface
0.0.0.0 89.9.194.30 0.0.0.0 UG0 00
wwan0
10.10.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.252.0 U 9 00
wlan0
89.9.194.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 7 00
wwan0
169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 1000 00
wwan0

I would then expect wlan to be preferred as it is usually faster, more
stable and cheaper when available.

Prioritizing between wwan and wlan

2012-10-29 Thread Marius Kotsbak
Hi!

Out of a IRC discussion, I got the impression that NM should prioritize
wifi connections over mobile connections, but I don't see it:

Only wlan connected:

marius@marius-T1005:~$ route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse
Iface
0.0.0.0 129.241.166.1 0.0.0.0 UG0 00
wlan0
129.241.166.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 9 00
wlan0
169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 1000 00
wlan0

Both wlan and 3G connected:

marius@marius-T1005:~$ route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse
Iface
0.0.0.0 89.9.198.2300.0.0.0 UG0 00
wwan0
89.9.198.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 7 00
wwan0
129.241.166.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 9 00
wlan0
169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 1000 00
wlan0

It seems like the last connected connection clears out the gateway of the
old connections, and in the last case here, wwan gets the gateway and lower
metric compared to the wwan that should be prioritized less than wifi...
