Storm 9530: ATi: Manufacturer: Research In Motion Model: 9530 Revision: OS Ver: 4.0.0.181 [May 13 2009 22:53:31] ESN: 0x80986ECB +GCAP: +CIS707-A, CIS-856, +MS, +ES, +DS, +FCLASS, CIS-856-A AT+COPS=? Doesn't the device get > all the details via the GSM sim card and then the AT+COPS command will > say who the provider is and we get the APN from the Broadband > Assistant database? What we're interested in is how it switches between CDMA and GSM. You'll always have the SIM card in, so perhaps the phone tries to find Verizon/Sprint first, then switches over to scanning for GSM providers on its GSM900/GSM1800 bands. What I'm really curious about is how to find out what mode it's in (CDMA or GSM) at the time, and if there's a way to detect when it switches. Can you run AT+COPS? too? Running AT+COPS=? actually performs the scan which can take minutes to complete. I guess I just need to find one of these types of devices and interrogate it myself :) There's a whole host of commands we can use but often phones implement a small subset of the specs. Blackberry is going to be more problematic, since its serial stuff is quite a bit more "special". It requires the use of berry to poke the USB bits into serial mode, requires special commands to send the PIN/unlock code to the device, and doesn't support a lot of the traditional AT commands. But thankfully I think ModemManager with 0.8 can handle that better and even perhaps transparently to NM. I don't have a ton of time to work on DUN at this moment, and I'm thinking it may not hit 0.8.0 unless we get some help on that front. But it's still certainly a priority. Question regarding the features for the next release
Dan, I see that PAN support is coming in 8.0 but your blog post mentioned that Bluetooth DUN would be a bit more difficult. Is that going to make the next release or would it be further down the road? I am primarily interested in being able to use Bluetooth to my Blackberry since that device won't show up as a serial device. Thank you! ___ NetworkManager-list mailing list NetworkManager-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/networkmanager-list
