RE: My wireless card activity could not be recognized by NetworkManager

2007-02-19 Thread Joan Moreau
I had the same problem with whatever wireless card I got. The solution was to
empty /etc/network/interfaces and put only the local dummy interface but not
ethX nor wlanX

NetworkManager

Hi,

Thanks so much!

My wireless card is a PCI card. I use the lspci and I can find my PCI
interface. When I use the lshal -l, I find my device too.

I am wondering if
1) some setting is need for Network Manager, for the wireless interface.
2) my wireless card driver does not response some Wireless Extension
ioctl() correctly.

Could you give me more hints?

Charles

Perhaps you can post your wireless card brand and the relevant section
of of lshal -l (ie the section with your wireless card in it)?

Original question

Hi,

I am new for Network manager. I install wireless card and driver on my
Fedora Core 6 desktop. I can associate to AP and ping PA. I also can
check my wireless card activity via network tools and Network
Configuration.

However, my NetworkManager could not detect my wireless card activity,
no matter my wireless interface is up or down. My network manager
detects my wired Ethernet card correctly.

Could any Guru help to indicate where the problem is?

Thanks!

Charles

Can you post the output for the section of your card from lshal? and
also the output for your card from lspci? Do you know what driver the
card is using? Also, what distribution are you using and what version?

Thanks,
Dan
