When my PC boots up, I get the error:

May 2 20:25:54 starbug mount: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad
superblock on /dev/hdb1,
May 2 20:25:54 starbug mount: or too many mounted file systems

Here's the entry created by Mandrake:
/dev/hdb1 /boot ext2 notail 1 2

And the other question: Why are all my Windows partitions on my other
drive mounted as accessible only to ROOT? I chmodded the mount points
to 550 but when you mount them, they change back to 500. So I can't
access the files.

Any clues?

Thanks!

The permission on a mount directory have nothiong to do with the pêrmission on the mount point . They are determined by options in /etc/fsab. If you want everyone to be able to read your windows partition; use umask=000. See man mount to have more information.
