Re: [[newbie] hp 722c in 6.1 and howto start oss at boot time]
In 6.1 it says it has drivers for the 722c one for black one for color and one (alpha) for both. None of these work. --- Don Whitman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: The hp 722c is a winprinter. It needs windows to work. There is a program out there that works with ghostscript called ppa. You can find it at www.httptech.com.ppa .It only works with black and white. Re: [newbie] MX300 drivers from OSS doesn't work...
1. hi -- try /usr/lib/oss/soundon first (where /usr/lib/oss is the directory you installed oss in) -at the shell prompt after booting- i have the same card - got it working in 6.0 but not in 6.1 so far??? It always says they fail at startup. I'm also a supernewbie. 2. Trash hotmail --- Rendus Maiman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: What am I doing wrong??? I downloaded the "beta" A3d drivers from http://www.opensound.com, followed the instructions on unpacking and installing the software, and rebooted my machine, but Sound and Midi fail at boot and I don't have any sound coming outa my speakers :( I'm REALLY a newbie so any help would be appreciated... Should I try removing all existing sound files, and if so, which are they and where are they located... Thanks in advance. __ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com __ Do You Yahoo!? Re: [newbie] rpm package won't install!
hi just wanted to say that i also had a trio 3d bought a velocity 128 -30 bucks -- works great in 16bit. --- Bob Jackson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Mark Hall wrote: I'm trying to upgrade my XFree86 in the hope that the latest version will support my (so far unsupported S3 Trio3d) video card. I downloaded XFree86-3.3.5-1mdk.i586.rpm from Linux-mandrake. I did this on my Win NT box, then FTP'd the file to my Linux box. I de-installed the old XFree86: RPM -e --nodeps XFree86 I try to install the downloaded package: RPM -i XFree86-3.3.5-1mdk.i586.rpm At this point i get the message: error: XFree86-3.3.5-1mdk.i586.rpm cannot be installed Can anyone help a beginner out here. I thought I was getting a handle on this stuff. Hi Mark, a couple of silly questions, but you didn't say: 1. are you on as root? I don't think that a regular user can do this. If I'm wrong, somebody please correct me. 2. Are you in the same directory as the rpm file? I've used rpm to install this file. I've had some problems that I haven't figured out yet, but it did install. (except for the configuration parts) Give the exact steps that you used and the directories that you and the rpm file were in when you ran the command. Maybe that'll help shed some light on your problem. Bob J. __ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com
