[newbie] new install of mandrake 9.0

2002-11-06 Thread Brett W Tippet
Hey guys ..

just a quickie .. I hope.

I've installed mandrake 9.0 on two machines .. the first one has almost the
same as the second.

I thought I've chosen all the same information on startup, but there's one
difference on the 2nd machine I need to get working.

There seems to be some commands missing from -bash that should be there.

ie - mailq
- mc

The thing I noticed is that on the first machine (where those commands work
fine) .. they seem to be located in /usr/bin/

So .. I would assume that the -bash on the second machine is ignoring all
commands in the /usr/bin folder? .. oh and yes, the files are in there.

How can I make this work on the second machine without formatting ..
everything else is running tops ..

Thanks guys.!

Regards,
Brett.

[newbie] Lacking MAKE command

2001-07-14 Thread Brett W Tippet

Being only new to mandrake I found this odd.

Not long installed Mandrake 8, went to install a package and bash didn't
understand the make command. How can I rectify this or get around it?

[newbie] Mandrake and Horde IMP

2001-07-12 Thread Brett W Tippet

Just enquiring about using horde on mandrake 8

Has anyone successfully installed it?

When I type the following -

sh ./install.sh

I get syntax error line 34.

Can someone point me to what I may be doing wrong.

Thanks,

Brett.

 Hi, all,

my pc sound card is creative 1371.

 its output is very normal:
 # cat xx.au /dev/audio## OK!

but it can not record sound:
 # dd /dev/audio xx.au
 # cat xx.au/dev/audio ## no sound

same connection can work on Windows.

what's wrong ? pls help me. thanx a lot.

How about mixer settings? To record from a CD I had to select
'CD' as recording source (the red LED in Kmix) and raise
the IGain slider (input gain, recording volume).

I only yesterday downloaded the latest stable version from horde, I believe
it was 2.2

I'm not sure if I'm done it all, what are the preqs?.

Which version of Horde are you trying to install and did you take
care of all of the preq's before hand?
