If so, what email program are you using? Yes. I'm using kde mail (in mandrake 9.0) and mutt. Neither program can find it. I don't use mutt as often, but it's setup with the .muttrc command: set ispell=/usr/bin/aspell.. KDE will use Ispell International fine it seems Joeb Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? [newbie] display manager
How do I get Mandrake to open in a command prompt, rather than kdm. I tried the Mandrake configuation - hardware - xserver and configured it to not start x. It told me to log out to save changes, but when I log back in I'm in the splash screen. What to I do, rpm -e kdm ? Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? [newbie] Postfix configuration question??
I need to configure Postfix so I can use mutt and slrn. Postfix seems pretty simple but I'm a little gunshy because the only other time I configured it, it worked fine but I ended having my root mail go directly to the administrator at mail provider. He got pretty upset after a while.. Here is my scenario: machine name: lymond.lvcm.com email address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] user directory: /home/dlm smtp forwarding address: smtp.lvcm.com (I would prefer to send mail directly from my machine and not use lvcm.com) According to the way I understand the documentation, all I have to do is edit my /etc/postfix/alias file and change the file to reflect: root: postfix (change to) root: [EMAIL PROTECTED] then I need to postalias command to rehash the alias database.. Is that all or have I missed something? thanks dale Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com
[newbie] Problem Mounting Floppies
When I try to mount floppies I made with Redhat 6.1, I get an error message, "could not list directory contents, file/mnt/floppy.." what do I need to do to -- "So many idiots.. get this working correctly. I'm amazed that I can't mount a ext2 floppy. I so few comets.." edited the fstab as follows: H Henry /dev/hda1 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2 /dev/hda5 / ext2 defaults 1 1 /dev/hda6 swap swap defaults 0 0 /dev/hda7 /home ext2 defaults 1 2 /mnt/floppy /mnt/floppy supermount fs=vfat,ext2 dev=/dev/fd0 0 0 none /proc proc defaults 0 0 none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0 /mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount fs=iso9660,dev=/dev/cdrom 0 0 (I added ext2 in fs=..) [newbie] Configuring Postfix
I want to use exmh mail program, or maybe mutt. I have a cable modem connection with DHCP and am running Mandrake 7.0. Can anyone tell me how to configure Postfix? I read the man page, but that didn't help much and I can't find much on the web. Before, when I had redhat 6.1 installed, I used sendmail and configured it with a script I got from Freshmeat, 'sendmail-install'. No such luck with Postfix. Fetchmailconf is easy, too bad Postfix isn't the same. thanks

[newbie] KNETLoad doesn't work
I'm sure this is a real simple fix, but how do I get KNETLoad (Network traffic monitor) to work in my /home/user account? It works fine in /root so I'm sure it's a permission problem, but I don't know what file to change permission on. I'm using mandrake 7.0 with a cable modem connection and dhcp. thanks dale
Re: [newbie] RAM question and Time
John Catral wrote: Hi! I just installed Mandrake 7 and I noticed that it is only reading 64 Mb of my 224 Totyal RAMS I have. Is that an error that 7.0 has? Another thing that I am perplexed about is the fact that it is giving a qrong time. I live here in New Jersey and all my other OS' like redhat works fine with this machine except the Mandrake 7 which is giving a wrong time. Anyone know of this same problem? ~ John I had the same problem with time when I first installed 7.0. I reinstalled, using expert mode and don't have the problem now. I think it has something to do with the graphical install program. cheers
