I think hotplug maps it to /dev/pilot automatically. [newbie] Kpilot Palm Tungsten T5
Hi, Can't access my T5 with KPilot. Messages shows it's on /dev/ttyUSBn but KPilot can't link to it. When HotSync on the T5 times out or is cancelled, the next time the T5 attempts to connect it's on a different port. Anyone got this working on 10.1? Or you can try using /dev/pilot, and see if hotplug is setting things up right. On 9.2, the symlink /dev/pilot is created when you press the hotsync button. I am not sure about 10.x, but it is worth a try. Mikkel YEESS -Works perfectly with /dev/pilot. Thanks, david Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? I am running MD9.2 and using a D-Ling DI-713P the P means that it is a router with a printer port. Under windows I just set up a port and put in the router base address and print to it. No problem. I tried the CUPS setup and it goes all the way through. I put in that it was an LPR printer and gave it the ip address but don't have a quename to give it. I tried MCC add a printer but it can't see the printer so it won't let me go farther. Also read a lot of man pages about lpr and print and other stuff like that. Tried those things to no avail. If anyone can give me a hint on what to do I would appreciate it. Have done the google think and don't seem to find anything. The d-link sit was not much help either although I did fine one thing where it said to put in the ip address and lp so I'm not that lp was the que name ot what. I have switched back to my doze system so I can't test that right now. Will tomorrow so I thought I would just drop this out to you helpfull people and see what other ideas people have. You were right, lp is the queue name. I had an old 704P and had it setup and printing with an HP Deskjet printer. Since then, I have changed printers and routers so I don't use it anymore. Concept is the same though, LPR printer, IP address of the router and lp for queue name should work, if it doesn't then I can try to help you troubleshoot it. BTW, based on my experience, using the router as a print server is only useful under windows. Under windows, the computer that the printer is connected to slows down when others are printing to it (Possibly higher resolutions supported under windows or postscript drivers rather than pcl drivers). Using a Linux machine for the print server, I never had that problem with a shared printer. I have a netgear print server attached to a router and this link tells how to set it up. http://www.aplawrence.com/Linux/netgearcups.html Worked like a dream first time - might help tho hardware differs. david Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? My scanner is still there this morning. (First time my scanner has ever worked with Linux.) The hackers amongst you may consider this a bit of a cop-out but it worked for me. Might be as well to install the updates first as I think it has been mentioned that there is some kind of bug in harddrake as supplied on the disk. Cheers, I've done all the updates to no avail. [newbie] re: lost KDE desktop home link
Hi, Suddenly clicking on the home icon on the KDE desktop has stopped working. I can still get konqueror by clicking konqbrowser.desktop and get to home this way. The Home.desktop execute tab = 'kfmclient openProfile filemanagement' which is the same as in other home accounts which work. I have tried looking at various files in .kde but can't find 'profile filemanagement'. Although its only an irritant, I would like to fix it. What to do next? [newbie] printing from KWord
Hi, I have exactly the same problem on 8.1 as Derek Jennings (4/10/2001). Both print preview print both result the characters and lines squashed together. Doesn't matter what font etc are used.
