Re: [Re: [[newbie] Icons to large]]
I use shift key on restart when I change something in windows. I suppose I'll not see the next millennium for admitting that! Does anyone realise that the key strokes CTL+ALT+(keypad +/-) is the method of the system BIOS to toggle the CPU between older TURBO/NORMAL modes. I also wonder is anyone knows about the "(press and hold SHIFT) click OK" while in a WIN9x RESTART that Win will drop out of windows and immediately restart, as opposed to dropping all the way to BIOS screen. Thanks Jennifer ICQ:6765592 As root, try XF86Setup of xf86config. You can test BEFORE accepting new configurations. I used the Ultra66 RedHat Linux 6.0 Driver partitionising the hard disk. Everything seemed to go well. But I can't create a linux boot floppy or install Lilo in the MBR. What is the problem?
[newbie] MVP3 chipset
I'm using a new TMC Socket 7 board with the above chipset. I was trying to follow a string and saw a reference to BIOS problems with this chipset. Could someone please point me at site where I can find further info Thanks John the Nadger www.nadger.co.uk
Re: [newbie] MVP3 chipset
Thanks John. I've had a good read. As I'm running that board in an AT case it really isn't a problem at this time. - Original Message - From: John Aldrich [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, October 02, 1999 8:58 PM Subject: Re: [newbie] MVP3 chipset On Sat, 02 Oct 1999, you wrote: I'm using a new TMC Socket 7 board with the above chipset. Could someone please point me at site where I can find further info The problem is the Auto-shutdown script which ships with Mandrake (and RedHat.) It gives you a GPF at shutdown instead of powering down. There's a simple fix to this. Just go to the Mandrake website (www.linux-mandrake.com) and go to the 'Mailing lists' link, and from there to the Mailing LIst archives and search for GPF. It's nothing major, just that it won't auto-power down for you. John
