[newbie] configuring net connection

Hi,

I am having trouble configuring my net connection with Linux.  I am using a 
Ethernet connection and I have the settings in Windows working no 
problem.  Exactly which settings do I need to transfer to Linux?  So far, I 
have the following configured: the IP address, subnet mask and DNS server.
