[newbie] Cirrus Logic modem

2001-02-13 Thread Heather ~~BlueRoses~~

I am *very* new to all this, so ya'll be gentle. I got mandrake 7.2
installed, got my sound card configured I think. Still don't have my
cd-rom and all going. I am having modem hassles. I have a Cirrus Logic
PnP V34 Modem. When I use HardDrake it puts it under "Other Devices" so
it isn't automatically detecting it. The person I got it from said he
used it on /dev/ttys1 port: 0x02f8 irq 3. When I look in windows it tells
me this modem is on port COM5. I am at a loss on how to get this modem
going.

[newbie] newest on the cirrus modem hassles

2001-02-13 Thread Heather ~~BlueRoses~~

of course I didn't realize till after this was sent that it went to the
person I was replying to instead of the list...sorry Charles. (My excuse
is it is 8:30 am and I have not slept yet lol)

{insert scream here}

I HAD my sound card working before I started messing with the modem..now
when I boot up linux it tells me my sound card is busy. I did the set
serial and then tried to connect and then it told me my modem was busy.
Earlier when I rebooted into windows and it installed the cirrus it was
telling me there was a conflict and it took out my soundcard (they were
fighting over Interrupt Request 10). I have tried to get the cirrus going
in windows to no avail, it tells me there was hardware failure. I don't
know if I got a bad modem from someone or if I just have too many PnP
things or what :/ This is an ISA modem.

Why oh why couldn't this be simple...bad enough first all I had was a
winmodem lol.
