[newbie] WINE Question

2000-11-08 Thread Joe Morris

Okay, I just completed my wine.conf file and ran Adobe Acrobat with it.
I then decided to open up Astroship Evader. I typed in the following:

wine /mnt/win_c/Astroship Evader/Astroship Evader.exe

I then got the following:

cannot find file "/mnt/win_c/Astroship"

Obviously, it does like the spaces in the file names. Tell me, how do I
overcome this problem? could you please tell me how to retype the above
command to launch it? Thanks! Joe

Help!!! Okay, I just downloaded and installed Mandrake 7.2, but a problem
quickly arose. I have no access to any of my drives except my zip
(/dev/hdb4). My floppy drive, my DVD, and my CD-Writer don't work. When I
go to open them I get a message telling me something about not having
read/write priveleges for the device. This does it in root as well. How do
I overcome this? Help me!!! Thanks in advance, Joe.

Boy, I've had problems with mine as well. I have an HP 9100 and a Toshiba
DVD. For the longest time it would not recognize my CD-RW. I finally found
out that if you recompile the kernel with SCSI emulation on "y" (not "m")
that it works perfectly. Joe

Re: [newbie] Um... HELP!?

2000-10-05 Thread Joe Morris

You might have a problem there. You might want to look into buying the
complete version of Powerquest PartitionMagic. If you decide to use
DiskDrake, you may lose some data. However, I resized my Windows partition
with it and it works okay, but I don't know. I don't know how to use the
fips tool (I think it is nondestructive ). Anyway, make sure you place
it between the windows and linux / partitions and within the 1023 cylinder
limit. Joe
