  I can receive my internet mail throught Kppp under X-window and also can
receive local network mail using mailx under shell.
  I want to receive my internet mail under shell. How to do this?

   My PC is  with ATX stucture. I can turn off my pc's power automatically
in win98's shutdown.(I think this function is convenience) Can I do this in

[newbie] Wrong date! NEED HELP.

Hi:
   I am runing linux based Intel CPU . I found the linux cannt read system
date from BIOS,isnt it?

   Here is my problem:
1. I type "date" and the system show "Fri May 7 22:20:00 CST 1999". But
the BIOS time is "14:48:00" .
2. I type 'date -s "14:50:00" +%T ' to correct the date. All thing is ok
now.
3. After reboot, I type 'date' and the system show "Fri May 7 22:20:00
CST 1999". Why? Linux have lost my config.

   I want to kill the daemon of inetd avoid rebooting. I use command  "ps
aus" ,but inetd isnt listed. Why ? How to rerun the daemon after kill it?

   I have added a user named "lyn" as group of root. But the command of
"shutdown" cannt be used by "lyn". How to assign the right of root to "lyn".

   I am using linux Mandrake. I found it is difficulty to distinguish file
and directory,to judge which file is runnable and which is not.It is more
easy in linux SlackWare which support different color to distinguish them.
Does Mandrake support this function?

   Under the help of the warmhearted persons, I install the VGA driver of
AGP with Intel i740 chips successfully. But Linux cannt detect the RAM of my
card. Why? I have to manually set it to 8M. When I run startx ,only 16 color
was showned and with very big icon. It is more worse than I use VGA color16.
As if linux cannt use my AGP card.
   I want to change the XF86Config file. There has too many items with
driver such as 'VGA','SVGA','S3'. I dont know which item as param passed to
X-window.

[newbie] How to change the resolution of X-windows?

Hi:

   I have two question below:

   1. I want to change the resolution of X-windows from 16 color to 24 bit
color.Help say that using 'alt'-'ctrl'-'+', but it doesnt work.

   2. The desktop is too big about 4 times than my screen of monitor. Why? I
have to move my mouse all around in order to find some thing on the screen.
