[newbie] HOW TO START LINUX
Hi, I have installed the LIN4WIN and everything went well until it asked me for my login name and password which was fine and then it asked for this [myloginname@host ]$ or something like that and I dont know what to press/type. I tried startx and my screen went blank and presses ctrl + alt + backspace and the screen came back on but to the same problem.. Go for a standard Linux Distrubution such as Redhat or Mandrake and get the LILO do everything for you. Thanks for this. Is there any where I can find a step by step giude as how to install Linux mandrake 7.2 and how to create the LILO as I need a dual startup ME and Mandrake. Original paper documentation for this system was lost during the last ownership - I have never even seen it. So, does anyone know of an -intelligent- way to go about guessing my monitor specifications? And, is there a way to change the configuration for the monitor without completely re-installing? An hour between getting to guess makes guessing completely no fun.
