Re: [newbie] aol
Josh...why did you give up on your Mindspring account? Just curious...i've been with them since they started..'94 or '95...and i've always been very pleased and satisfied with their performance. Especially with their news servers. i've yet to find one as fast. They really do a good job! This may be changing though..now that they're buying up every ISP in sight. I'd just like to hear your comments on it, as well as the comments of others. Thanks. mark - Original Message - From: Josh McCaffrey [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, November 21, 1999 10:33 PM Subject: Re: [newbie] aol I'm happy w/ my new CORE.COM account. $9.95/month, first month free unlimited access.

I'm not convinced that the list owners have removed his address. Re: [newbie] Netscape mail problem
Maybe if you tried to upgrade your communicator you would meet with success. Isn't there a new version out? You could use KFM to get there to get it. On another note, I think the Mandrake people deserve a lot of praise..this is the best distro i've ever used! It's fast, too...much faster than win'blows on the same machine...I'm really impressed. I've even gotten my TV working on my ATI all in wonder card! I was amazed! Mark - Original Message - From: Joseph S. Re: [newbie] Seeking Timothy Lewis
Steve, I think he was actually meaning to send this message to the list. I am assuming that he can't find this guy's email address, but knew that he was on the list. I'm pretty sure that this was intentional. I don't think he has made a mistake. We're trying to get the instructions that this Mr. Lewis sent to him on setting up java in staroffice. mark. - Original Message - From: Steve Philp [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, November 14, 1999 9:27 PM Subject: Re: [newbie] Seeking Timothy Lewis Think you can send these personal messages privately? The last two that you _thought_ you sent privately both went to the list. Don't feel bad, I once told off what I thought was a potential employer over an mailing list once... it's that split second after you hit send that you suddenly realize that you've made a horribly bad mistake.

I am getting this, too. Very strange, indeed. Wonder what's going on?? Re: [newbie] strange things
How long has it been going on? I have emailed Mindspring's support about it. Maybe they can fix it. Did you mean 'mail client' where you said 'mail server'? Or do you think that MS's servers are screwed? mark - Original Message - From: John Aldrich [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, November 12, 1999 7:32 PM Subject: Re: [newbie] strange things It's some idiot on Mindspring who either has a misconfigured mail server or some idiot who has subscribed to this list and then either moved from Mindspring or been kicked off. I favor the first explanation, as it has continued, despite the best efforts of Axalon and Chmouel. John

you've got a winmodem. - Original Message - From: sinx To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, August 10, 1999 2:55 PM Subject: [newbie] Modem Problems I just installed Madrake 6.0, running KDE, I used kdeppp and tried to setup my modem, which is a U.S. Robotics 56k Internal Fax Modem, on COM3, but I couldn't seem to set it up right, I always got errors like "modem is busy" or "can't open modem" Does anyone know what settings I should use for the modem? Or if I have to download some linux drivers for it? Thanks.
Re: [newbie] Would people please stop sending HTML mail to this list?
Yeah. But if you want help, it would be in your best interest to not send HTML to the list. A good many people i suspect, would just pass your message by if it was in HTML. I would. HTML belongs on the web. mark - Original Message - From: James J. Then do not read it. Stop crying and start helping people. Unless your are the Admin of this list you have no reason to say what we send our messages in
Re: [newbie] Re: [Issue 991117-8332510]
Just wondering, how many times are you going to hash this out on the list? I think it's pretty well understood now. All that needs to be done is that this 'kstahlhut' needs to be taken off of the mandrake list. It does appear that someone is not doing their job. Now, the racetrac.com server appears to be bouncing emails, although for the life of me, I don't understand why they're coming back from a Mindspring server. :-) John
Re: [newbie] X-server (2)
Are you talking about KDM? (XDM?) I forget it's exact name at the moment. It's an option upon install. If you install this, and choose boot into X upon startup ( runlevel 5 ) you get a nice mandrake screen with a little window that lets you select which wm you run. Really nice..
