[newbie] Mail Server again

2001-05-04 Thread Mazen

Hi, all

I have installed Postfix in my machine. It runs perfectly. I also need to give my user
pop3 facility so I have installed QPopper. I have followed the instructions step by
step without any problem. It is still not working.

I have tried telnet MAILSERVER IP 110 but it seems not working to. I have feeling
that QPopper is not working.

Any suggestion?

Thank in advanced

Re: [newbie] 2nd H/D

Actually, I have used partition magic program Ver. 5. It was very good and handy. It
comes in two versions one that runs under windows and DOS.

probably. partition magic or something like that -- tho i have never used any thing
such as that.
i know that diskdrake can format your ext2 partition back to fat32, but it can not
"rejoin" your "c" and "d" fat32 partitions.

On top of my previous question about LM 7.2 install, there is a possibility
that I will buy a second H/D . In that case I will use the entire H/D for
Linus and the other one for Win. Is there any way I can reclaim the space
that Linux used to be on H/D 1 and make it Fat 32 system without having a
separate partition within windows, and without loosing any data from my Win
partition??

RE: [newbie] permission Question

2000-11-22 Thread Mazen

I guess you're right. One other thing is that any user you add to your Linux will have
a full access to the Windows directory. This is really dangerous.

Re: [newbie] Finding host based on MAC address

2000-11-20 Thread Mazen

This command is not exactly what I am lookig for.
I have a MAC address for examle "aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff" but I dont know what its IP.
What I want is to get the IP address knowing the MAC address.

On the other hand I have successfully re-addressed my NIC by the follwing commands:

ifconfig ethx down
ifconfig ethx hw ether aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff

where ethx is (eth0, eth1, ...).

Thanks

Why not go to a terminal window (assuming you are using Linux) and type arp
-a?
BTW if you are successful at re-addressing your NIC, let me know!

Hi all,

I wonder how to change the MAC address (hardware address) of the network card. I have
read something about that in the man pages of "ifconfig" command.
