[newbie] failed on bootup lm 8.2

I get a few error on boot up.  Here they are.
turning on  procerss accournting   [failed]
starting processing acounting[failed]

I can't remember the exact verbage of this one.
eth0   [failed]

I do not have anything plugged into the nic, could 
that be the problem. I am using the usb on my
cable modem.

Do I need process acounting?  Maybe I should 
just turn it off.

Any suggestions?

[newbie] profile_bash

Well, i know a little about sco.  .profile runs when a user logs in.  What 
does the same type of thing as that or profile_bash, when using an xterm.

I have a modifed PATH etc.

Another question - is the alias.  How is it set for an xterm?

alias seems to loose its values as child shells are created.  How would one 
over come this problem?

[newbie] logout of kde - screen hangs

I have m8.1 and go to a console.  startx works fine.   But I can't get back 
to a console screen (ctrl alt F1 or F2 etc) while kde is running.  Even 
loging out, the screen just hangs.  Now, interesting enough is that shutdown 
and reboot works just fine.

Any suggestions?
