Re: [newbie] Changing from Xfree86 3.3.6 to 4.01..
Here's what worked for me. I think the problem is that XFDrake keeps wanting to link X to 3.3 so delete the link and create another link pointing to the correct version of X. rm /etc/X11/X ln -s /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 /etc/X11/X then do a X -version just to check. I hope that helps out. From: Chris Hall [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [newbie] Changing from Xfree86 3.3.6 to 4.01.. Date: Mon, 15 Jan 2001 02:51:50 + Hi, I have Mandrake 7.2 installed and I selected Xfree86 4.01 to use during installation. I recently changed my resolution and it changed the X Server back to 3.3. Now how do I get back to X 4.01? Any/all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! _ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
[newbie] Eth0 probs
Hi, I just installed Mandrake 7.2 and everything is pretty much working. Here are my system specs Amd Athlon 800 Biostar M7VKB mobo w/ VIA KT133 chipset 128 RAM 20 gig HD Gefoce2 MX SBLive PCI 3com905b-TX Cyclone (PCI) Acer 50x CD-ROM ATAPI TEAC CD-W54E My only problem is my ethernet card. I am connected to a college network and in Win98 the card works fine. Currently I'm using the 3com59x driver for eth0. I'm not sure if this is the correct driver or not. When I boot up i get a message the IP Initialization with dhdcp failed. Is anyone familiar with this card and getting it to run under Mandrake 7.2? I'm not sure if the problem is the driver or the dhdcp settings.. _ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
