[newbie] colors when logged in

I have a question...I am using linux on two diff servers...mandrake on one and sorcery 
linux on another one.
I have the same .bashrc file for both and I am not sure as to why the colors will work 
on mandrake but not on
sorcery linux...any ideas?

What other info do you need from me to let me know what you think I need to do.

Has anyone every gotten quicken to run under Linux?

I have used gnucash but I really do like quicken for windoze.

[newbie] Xwindows wont start

hey group,

Has anyone ever come across this error message when trying to boot up
into X

init:Id x respawning too fast: disabled for 5 min

I am not sure exactly what happend.it was working fine until I ran
mousedrake and tried to configure my mouse

Any ideas?

[newbie] Password On Grub/Lilo

Hey group,

Does anyone know how to password lilo/grub on boot to where you have to
have a passwd to boot whichever partition you want or to make any
changes like as to boot into single user mode?

[newbie] Sleep Mode

Well I tried to edit out the file in my XF86Config-4 file about DPMS but
that didnt seem to really make a difference either.  I also tried to use
the command xset s off but that didnt work either.

Any ideas? I might just have to recompile the kernel I have without
power saving.
