[newbie] /etc/sysconfig/hwconf

Who writes the file /etc/sysconfig/hwconf ?
 
I put the Harddisk with Mandrake installed on into another PC and found
the
specs of the old System still in /etc/sysconfig/hwconf.
 
And how could I select the modules loaded while boottime ? Is there a
tool
like "modconf" existing like in Debian.
