Could you list the error messages. Did you get the update from mandrake or
download the source and complie it your self.

I did the up date without any problems, but I'm using Grub as my loader and
ext2fs file system on my hard drive.  Go to Mandrakes web page and you will
find the
info for correcting LILO and Reiserfs problems on the kernel upgrades.
