are you choosing a generic or a specific mouse during the installation? the
error you're getting may not have anything to do with what the message is
reporting.

[newbie] 8.1 Installation Problem

Hi,
I'm trying to install v. 8.1 on my new laptop, but I consistently
encounter a file writing problem.
The install goes fine up until the part where it
asks about the mouse. The mouse works, but the install gives an error
saying it can't write a config file. 
Subsequent points in the install give the same error.
Any ideas?
