Right click on Desktop
CreateNewFileLink to application

Fill in the details in the pop up box, and click on the default icon to select
your own.

If there is already a menu item for the application you want a desktop icon
for, then you can just drag/drop it out of the menu.

on the desktop, just create a link to the opera application.

or use menudrake and use it to create an entry but first try to locate the
opera icon files (find opera*xpm or opera*png at /usr) and place it on either
/usr/share/icons (or in any directories inside it) or /usr/share/pixmaps. that
step is so you can have an opera icon in the list presented by menudrake.

ciao!

Right click on your desktop. Choose Create New then Link to Application.
Under the Application block type Opera. Open the Execute Block and
type opera in the Command block. On the General block click on the gear
icon. The Select Icon window will open, the System Applications box should
be checked. The Applications drop down will open, loading the icons as it
does so. Scroll down and click on the icon for Opera. Then choose o.k.
and exit. When kde restarts the icon will be there.

You can open the Configuration in the start menu, then Other, then use
MenuDrake to add it to your Networking, www section also.

[newbie] Desktop Icon from Hell.

2001-10-31 Thread Ronald J. Hall

Okay, I've finally (I think!) gotten my XawTV icon to disappear from my normal
users desktop.

I had to go into (as root/su):

/etc/dynamic

and either /hooks, /launchers, or /scripts had an icon/script for XawTV. I
deleted it, and so far grin, its not reappeared. XawTV still works fine
too...so. ;-)
