All you have to do is set the fonts to something more readable in both
style and size. that can be done in the preferences.

Greetings, After 16 months to the day, last night I was able to connect to
the Internet from Linux. But, the web pages displayed in Netscape was very
small even smaller than this. And in the View Menu : Increase Font and
Decrease Font commands are greyed out.
What can I do please ?
 TIA Regards.

There is an excellent Mini-HOWTO on font deuglification that comes with the
distribution. It tells you how to set up and use TrueType fonts in Linux. I
followed the instructions last night and the results are much better.
Cheers,

Thank you, I did that, it reads slightly better, the improvement is rather
minute; before the change, the font was something like size5, from
preferences I changed to 24, now is something like size7. May be I can type
in 36 ;-) Regards

Look at rpmfind.net for mozilla-fonts, install the rpm and choose one mozilla
font.

The rpm should've taken care of all this. IOW's, install the
rpm, start Netscape, and under 'edit|preferences|fonts' you should
see the new fonts available for choosing, eg. helvetica(mozilla).

Set font size to 18 or thereabouts, it'll work fine. Or download the
mozilla fonts from www.skunk.mit.edu.
Even better, download the latest mozilla binary (current is M16, i
think) and use it. It is faster, better, and definitely more eye
friendly than Netscape's borg.

On any 'cooker' ftp site such as:
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/MandrakeCooker/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS/
   ...or any '7.1' site
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/Mandrake/7.1/Mandrake/RPMS/

you'll find 'drakfontrpm' which installs your windows TT
fonts for all X apps including Netscape. NS still looks like
heck, so also get the 'mozilla-fontsrpm' which installs some
fonts for NS that look a lot better.

I still had to go into the XFS config file mentioned in the README for
the Mozilla-Fonts package and add the directory the Mozilla fonts got
installed to (look at the file list in the RPM, because it's not the
same directory as the readme says).
