Yeah. But on the upside, there's supposed to be a 3.5 version of the XFree86
coming out soon. Hopefully that will address the lacking of support for the
Diamond A50 card.

It probably won't help much - FreeBSD and Linux use the same
implementation of X (XFree86 3.3.something).

Basically it goes through all the various video settings in XF86Config and
says it can't use any of them and drops back to the command prompt with the
"Cannot connect with the X server" error. I get the same damned thing. With
two versions of Windows running at 1280x1024 with 24 bit color, I don't
really want to use 800x600 with 256 colors. Can't wait for the new 3.5
version of XFree86.

What kind of error msg's are you getting? Somewhere in those msg's lies the
answer to what is not starting (my biggest offender has been the mouse).

KDE won't load it says "Error: Can't connect With X server"
and it repeats other error messages that are similar to that X server error.

I haven't even configured my network yet and still get that error. It's
talking about the X server. Not the network server. We're just trying to get
Linux [RedHat OR Mandrake] to give us more than 800x600 with 256 colors.
