Not only that, but if his system is plugged into a circuit which also
has other heavy-duty stuff (AC's, dryers, washers, etc, etc,) it can
have the same affect. You could try plugging you system into a diff.
place as well... ;-)

We used to have fits up at work with people who bundled cables together, and
got a problem like yours. Try moving the cables around while watching the
screen. Also see if they are connected tightly.

Welcome Phil,

Yes. Multiple ac lines grouped through wall conduits are notorious.
Wireless phones.
Try and group your ac lines in a different direction. Also, some
electrical shavers, drills, some Ham radio transmitters can cause a
quiver but this is getting rare.

2000-08-02 Thread =*=

Today I successfully installed Mandrake 7.1 (Maximum Linux
Disk) on a 3+ gig partition that used to hold a useless
Win98 installation. I have my 7.0 install intact on another
2 gig partition, so getting 7.1 basically running was
a snap -- I have copied a lot of stuff (even old programs
like wvdial that still work fine). Since I never used
Windows anyway it's nice to have blown it away. /home still
resides on its own partition, so it was easy getting my
settings in place. I have about 600 megabytes in the middle
of the disk with nothing installed there, so I am thinking
of playing around with DR-DOS or something.

I am wondering about the XF86 install though. The installer
did not ask whether or not I wanted to try 4.0, and I am not
sure how to tell. One thing that blows me away is how clean
and sharp the display *looks*. The only glitch I have
noticed is an occasional "quiver" -- the display sort of
vibrates horizontally. Anyone know what might be causing
this? Other than that, I am very impressed with this. I
