[newbie] Mandrake V8 PowerPak

2001-07-14 Thread John Rigby

Hi folks,
Very pretty pak!
Went on very well for this Newbie at Linux.
However:
I can't get the logic of adding all the extra programs that came with it.
E.G. I know somewhere in there is IBM's ViaVoice program.
Also I was told... Websphere trial is there.

Has anybody found alternative programs like MS FrontPage?
Websphere is the only one I know of and it is $180 bucks in Oz!

John

For the extras on the disks--supplemental applications, just drop in and
add it to software manager. For Commercial CDs put in the disks, click
on the CD icon and then read the doc files for each app. We made it to
be easy, and many can be installed at install time (in expert mode, by
clicking on the flat list when it shows you individual packages and
scrolling down to the right package).

Try screem, quanta and bluefish, all on your menu.

I have donwloaded Mandrake 8.0 (2 CDs) from internet. I would like to know
if PowerPack CDs are also aviable to download, and from where.

yes yes, I had the same trouble finding kDelvelop and the like. try, when
you're in your software manager, toggling between the catagorized list and
the other one (kant think of the exact name). this will make it
alphabetical and you can look thataway.
