Before you do anything fancy for the sound card, try this:
LILO Boot: linux 1
When booted, type
bash#] sndconfig

My modem is at Com3 IRQ 11  and my sound card is sharing
a pci IRQ 9
with my LPT2 port which is also pci.. I have been told that pci devices
sharing irqs is not a problem with win.. what about linux?

ok, I will give that a try.. but what does the run level 1 do for me that a
std boot would not?
