[newbie] Multiple Monitors

2001-02-13 Thread John King

Hi all,

Can anyone help me with multiple monitors?

I have a 17" and a 15" monitor which I wish to use together on linux.
I have two 32MB TNT2 NVidia cards ( one AGP and one PCI)

The system sees the both cards, (albiet both as PCI's)

The PCI card is correctly running the 17" monitor

How can I get the 15" monitor going as well???

System details::
Athlon 500 Slot A on a Gigabyte board
3x 64MB SDRAM modules (192 MB RAM)
17" Mitsubishi (trinitron type) monitor
15" NEC MultiSync 4FGe

Help would be appreciated :)

[newbie] multiple monitors / video cards

2000-07-22 Thread Adrian Smith

greetings...

question.
i have a compaq 5304 (kinda junky but works) and of course it has the video card built
into the motherboard. i'm thinking of getting a second video card so that when i run
Windoze98 / Photoshop i can utilize duel display abilities (or so i hope, will i
really work? don't know, never done it).

ummm, now the question=)
does Linux (i have Mandrak 7.1) support duel monitors?
and i expect there is a place to tell Linux which of these video cards to use if i am
only going to use one of them, am i correct?

also, if anyone has the link handy would you please give me the link to the site which
tells one which video cards are compatable with Linux?

much much thanks to you folks
adrian
