I've given up on them; the only reason they bought the office suite was to try to gain more support for the rest of their company and they haven't made any improvements on the product (that I've noticed anyway) - it's just as bloated as M$ products. I know this doesn't offer any real help for your situation, I just didn't want you to think nobody was reading your mail =) p.s. I just bought Corel Office 2000 Deluxe for Linux, it's awesome I can't believe the improvements made since Word Perfect 8 was released last year. If you need an office suite that can (really) import and export M$ 97, 2000 and just about any other relevant format, plus a really slick 'real time preview' feature - check it out. Re: [newbie] PalmPilot?
I've had better luck with JPilot, for what it's worth. But they both will do the job. Supposedly JPilot can handle USB if you have one of the newer kernels, but I've not tried it with my Visor. Not sure about KPilot. I'll wait for Mandrake to release it all nice-and-pretty-like, without kernel recompilation on my part. dave w

Yup, called "Kpilot", haven't tried it though since I don't have a palm pilot :( > -Original Message- > From: HAL 9000 [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Thursday, March 16, 2000 4:31 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [newbie] PalmPilot? > > hello all... just wondering if MDK has support for palm pilots... thanks > > seth > -- > _ > (_'_ .. > < >

It seems you've got to do a 'chmod 666 /dev/?' where the ? is the serial port the cradle is attached to. (Of course I'm using Mandrake 6.1, so YMMV.) - Theo
[newbie] Palmpilot connections?
Has anyone tried to get their Palmpilot to work with LinuxMandrake6 ? I picked the December issue of Linux Magazine and it had a great article about different software to use. Seems that j-pilot was the best and anything else had just a short paragraph explaining how the author could not get any other software to work. I'm using the kpilot program that came along with the KDE desktop and I just can't get it to work. I have typed many paths for the device with no luck. If anyone has had success please let me know. Thank you. Serpico "You talkin' to me?"
