Which video card did apple put in your iMac? My partner's iMac has an Nvidia card, so at install, he used video=riva (or whatever it lists)...the point is that he installed with riva drivers. Just an off the wall idea. The same thing happened to me when I installed Mandarke 7.2 (I even got a new monitor from Dell before I figured it out the problem;-) Do you have a fan or other electrical device operating in close proximity to your monitor?
