[newbie] samba network on linux

2001-11-05 Thread belcoop

After reïnstallling my linux network many times, suddenly the Linux computer
is visible on the Windows machine.

The linux machine does not see anything.

In Konquerer, he says could not connect to host.localhost. And that's it.

What now?

[newbie] Samba Network

2000-10-16 Thread freeman

I normally have my samba network configured as a workgroup I was thinking of switching
it over to a domain server possible dhcp server. I was just wondering what it entails
to do this chore.

I was not aware that Samba could emulate an NT Domain Controller. Doesn't it
act as an additional server in the domain?

Adding DHCP would be separate from changing the workgroup/domain configuration,
yes? DHCP is quite easy to configure if you have only one subnet to address. I
usually allocate a portion of the addresses for DHCP and some for static IP for
printers, servers, etc...
