[newbie] Slow mail

2000-07-02 Thread Mike Perry

Hi Folks!

Why does it take approx 48 hours for email to appear on this
List?
Does it take so much time for everyone?

Some messages I posted the 27th of June just came up, so with 48 hours you
are fortunate. *grin*
Must be server problems or upgrades at linux-mandrake.com

I have stuff pop up two or three days late and yet some of the e-mail for
those days came through within minutes of being posted. Some strange goings
on, what?

I get groups of postings two or three days late and yet mail arrives in my
inbox everyday. Some of it within a few minutes of posting. Why some of the
mail posted on those days takes 48 to 72 hours more to get to my inbox is a
true mystery.

It might have soething to do with sendinf the messages to Newbie@ or
newbie. Maybe the smaller case does'nt send the mauil to the list
immediately. If Havlik is listening, is Mandrake considering using
Majordomo 1.94 or 2 for the job and scrapping Sympa. Majordomo seems
to be working fine on most lists.

Try addressing your mail to 'Newbie' instead of 'newbie'.

That's not the problem, I have my address for mail set as Newbie, I guess the
slow mail is mail posted by others using"newbie" lower case "n". It's the mail I
receive not the mail I send that is slow.
