Ok, I've now used MC to read the README.cirrus file, and updated my config file based on advice given in the readme. I've added Option "noaccel", and it froze me...enabled Option "no_bitblt", same issue...I enabled the Chipset "clgd5436" function for better identification of my cardall to no avail. As far as this comment goes..." Alternatively, a brand new 4 MB video card would cost you less than a good lunch.. Make sure it's supported :) " I see no reason to buy a new card when mine is 100%supported. Also, the issues of trying to install a PCI card on a system with an integrated video adapter(Compaq's idea, not mine) seems hardly worth the trouble. I would like to know if anyone has ever resolved any issues with these cards, and what is necessary to acheive the ultimate goal of clear video with no re-draw issues. Thank you for all of your sage advice on this matter, I appreciate any and all help you can provide. Thanl you in advance, Sam, AFAIK, your not going to be able to get round manually editing your XF86Config file for this card. You *have* run Xconfigurator specified your card, haven't you? Do you know how much RAM it's got? Moving the RAM setting down a notch in Xconfigurator can sometimes help, is another setting you can play with... also, you could try asking about your problem in the "comp.windows.x" newsgroup (or searching it @ deja.com). As for buying a new card, it's what I did when I was running Caldera 2.2 it didn't support my embedded chip. Installing it was as simple as slipping a jumper on the motherboard. Of corse, YMMV, from the doc's, it seems you should be able to get your own going -Warren. - Original Message - From: "Sam Roza" [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, December 19, 1999 11:20 AM Subject: Re: [newbie] Startup issues...revisited Ok, I've now used MC to read the README.cirrus file, and updated my config file based on advice given in the readme.
