Dear friends:

Using Linux-Mandrake 7.0

I am trying to use efax (with my Robotics 56k EXT modem) with KSendFax.
I have two problems:

1) I can use efax only as root. The usual permissions problem.

I have tried to "chmod /usr/bin/efax" but with no success. See below:

[sher@adsl-77-232-213 sher]$ efax

[sher@adsl-77-232-213 sher]$ efax
efax: Sat Feb 19 13:00:31 2000 efax v 0.9 Copyright 1999 Ed Casas
efax: Sat Feb 19 13:00:31 2000 efax v 0.9 Copyright 1999 Ed Casas
efax: 00:31 compiled Nov 28 1999 20:55:00
efax: 00:31 Error: can't open serial port /dev/modem: Permission denied
efax: 00:31 done, returning 2 (unrecoverable error)
[sher@adsl-77-232-213 sher]$

2) Efax insists on using /dev/modem instead of /dev/ttyS1.

Do I need to make a symbolic link between /dev/modem and /dev/ttyS1? If
so, just how do I do it. Just where is /dev/modem and /dev/ttyS1. I have
tried to find them with the "whereis" and "locate" commands but have not
been successful.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Benjamin
