There seem to be all manner of X-type config files scattered hither and yon
in home directories and /etc and their children. I think a lot of them
never get looked at by the system, and I don't know how to figure out which
ones really count!

I installed 7.0.2 to go directly to X, and I don't know how to control the
process... particularly in terms of which X programs start up
automatically.

I've seen references to homedir/.xsession, but I don't have one of those.
I'm afraid to just create one in case I do it wrong and lose access to my
system.
