SV: [newbie] Wonderful article about different Window Managers

2002-12-01 Thread Anders Lind

As I was surfing around on my daily circle of sites, I ran across this
article which, for y'all newbies, might give y'all some more insight
into the Desktop world and a bit of it's history...enjoy - and
EXPERIMENT!

Interesting yes...but not complete unfortunately, but one cannot ask an article
like that to be complete I suppose. I missed XFce, my new wm-favorite, that
only shows though IMO that there are tonnes of great WM's out there.

well, honestly, i felt the article was kinda light too.

but thanks to the article and the original poster
(thank you Stephen)
i saw enough to give fvwm another look,
and i'm impressed.

it certainly has (suddenly?) come a long way since i gave up on it
2-3 years back.

looks like i'm gonna be off KDE and IceWM for a while. :)

Mate, there's heaps, but let's not forget Enlightenment, WindowMaker,
Afterstep, UDE, AmiWM, IceWM, Aewm++, EpiWM, OLVWM, Blackbox, Fluxbox,
Openbox, Oroborus, XFCE of course, Sawfish (alone and not with Gnome),
MLVWM, NovaWM, HazeWM, Phluid, AlloyWM, 9wm - just to name a few...

But if you're wanting to explore/expand/experiement, Y'all oughta give
Enlightenment a go...

Hehe...for me personally Enlightenment is the reason why I abandoned Gnome a couple of
years back, saying that I haven't used Enlightenment since then either
