I am using Mandrake 7.1 now. Thanks in advance Hi Andrew. I'm running Seti@Home myself. In order to run the X version (graphics) to work, you need the following command line: ./setiathome -graphics ./xsetiathome The -graphics option tells the setiathome prog to send it's output in a format readable by the xsetiathome bit. I also run a text-only version in another directory, i.e, two copies at once, although the x client can only see one at a time. Incidentally, have you tried look@seti - this enables you to see multiple instances simultaneously - even if they are on remote machines. There is even an option to view a skymap showing the area that your signals came from! Hope that helps. Regards, Ozz.

Re: [[newbie] X setiathome]
Andrew, I installed the setiathome client successfully on 2 computers this weekend. I downloaded the binary tar which contained the main setiathome executable and the xsetiathome executable. Do you want any specifics pertaining to my istallation, what I did, the display, etc? I am using Mandrake 7.1 also. --Drew-- Andrew Scotchmer [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, Has anyone successfully installed the X setiathome screen. Re: [newbie] X setiathome
Andrew, I never had any luck getting the X seti to work properly. If you are looking for a graphical interpretation of seti there are a bunch. Check the below out, you'll probably find something you'll like. http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/links.html#links_unix Trevor Andrew Scotchmer wrote: Hi, Has anyone successfully installed the X setiathome screen. Re: [newbie] X setiathome
i use xsetiathome om mandrake7, to get it to work you have to start setiathome with the option ' -graphics' (ignore quotation marks) this then allows xsetiathome to show what setiathome is doing bascule Andrew Scotchmer wrote: Hi, Has anyone successfully installed the X setiathome screen. On Sun, 20 Aug 2000, you wrote: Hi, Has anyone successfully installed the X setiathome screen. I have just downloaded the text version as I could not get the X version to work at all. I am using Mandrake 7.1 now. You need to be running the text version in the background before you start up the X version. -- Alex (Go easy on me, I'm a COBOL programmer in real life)
